👪 For many, being an "influencer" is a dream job—and for some, it becomes a reality even as children.
The most successful German child influencer is only 10 years old and has 866,000 subscribers on YouTube. In her videos, she advertises shampoos and lipsticks or showcases her new bedroom decor. Her parents have even quit their jobs because the video earnings cover the entire family income. Is this even legal? Or is it child labor? And who's monitoring it?

☝️In this report, Svenja visits 9-year-old Luisa near Koblenz. She and her parents run the YouTube channel “Luisa's Family Channel.” Svenja is there when the family records a new video. With her impressions, she travels to Berlin and meets Luise Meergans from the German Children's Fund. She heads the Children's Rights and Education department there and has dealt extensively with the topic of child influencers in recent years. She explains to Svenja that there is a loophole in the current system in Germany, which is why no one monitors the work of child influencers.

The Youth Employment Protection Act stipulates, among other things, that children may only work two to three hours a day, depending on their age, and must be supervised during this time.
