OBS WebSocket 4.9 gives you proper control over your stream. Media playback, scene creation, browser refresh, the lot.
OBS WebSocket 4.9 is nearly here and honestly it is a big one. I have been running the pre-release for a bit and there are so many new features packed in that it is genuinely going to change how a lot of you build your streams.
The headline for me is media control. You can pause, play, stop and restart any media source straight through WebSocket, and it works brilliantly with VLC media source playlists too. Next track, previous track, loop, and even jump to a set time so you can skip an intro at the touch of a button.
Then there is source and scene creation. This is the one that lets tools port all your sources, scenes and filters straight into OBS. Download a config file, press install, and it sets everything up for you. No naming scenes, no building sources by hand.
We also get refresh browser sources on command, which is dead handy when alerts stick or a browser source stops behaving. Plus reading events, recording and replay buffer status, triggering hotkeys, and an execute batch function for sending a load of commands in one go.
This one is aimed at the more advanced users, but if you use StreamerBot or anything that talks to OBS, these features open up a lot.
