🚀 Hey there, I'm Muskan Saini, your digital marketing trainer and coach. In the last video, we explored IP addresses, ICANN and URLs. In this video we will learn about domains. What is a domain name? What is SLD? and What is TLD?So, if I ask you to recommend a website that can digitally up skill me, you would quickly go to Google and search for digitalexplainers.com, right?
So, if we look at it carefully, a complete domain name looks like this: www.digitalexplainers.com, which has three parts. First, WWW, which we call a subdomain. Second, digital explainers, which we call a second-level domain. And lastly, .com, which is called a top-level domain. Basically, a domain name is the name we enter in our browsers to visit any website. The name of your website is referred to as the second-level domain.
Domain name is an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority or control within the internet. Domain names are used in various networking context and for application-specific naming and addressing purposes.

TLD - top-level domain (TLD) is the rightmost segment of a domain name, located after the last dot. Also known as domain extensions, TLDs serve to recognize certain elements of a website, such as its purpose, owner or geographical area. For example, a .edu top-level domain allows users to immediately identify that site as a higher educational institution.
SLD- A second-level domain (SLD) is the section of a domain name that is to the left of the dot, while a top-level domain (TLD) is the section to the right of the dot, also known as the domain extension. For example, our domain name is digitalexplainers.com, with "digitalexplainers" being our SLD and ".com" being our TLD. This part of the domain is known as "second-level" due to the hierarchy of the Domain Name System (DNS).
