As you can see from the video, banding can't be completely solved directly in Adobe Illustrator. The texture method, for example, merely masks the steps in the gradient. Therefore, if you're looking for a smooth and clean gradient, you can export your design from Illustrator to Adobe Photoshop and apply gradient fills there. Photoshop produces a smoother gradient. To export, select File - Export as - Photoshop(*.PSD). The resulting file can be opened in Photoshop and then manipulated with colors.
