🎞 HOW TO ADD MOTION BLUR TO SPEED RAMP TRANSITIONS | FCPX Tutorial
Speed Ramp Transitions are fast and easy to do and can make your videos a lot nicer if used correctly. However, they look even better if you add some motion blur as the transitions become even less visible.
Fortunately, there is an easy way to add motion blur to your speed ramp transitions in Final Cut Pro X (FCPX). You can even keyframe the motion blur to blend it slightly in and out.
It's actually quite easy to do. At first, you create your speed ramp transition and then you add the gaussian blur effect to both clips. Now it depends on the movement of your camera. If your camera moves horizontally, you must set the vertical blur slider to 0 and the horizontal blur slider to 100. If the camera movement is vertical, just do it the opposite way.
After that, you should animate the motion blur according to your speed ramping. To do that, simply create a keyframe where your speed ramping starts in the first clip and set the blur amount to 0. Then set another keyframe at the end of the clip and set the amount to 100. On the second clip, you repeat the steps but set one keyframe at the beginning to 100 and at the end of the speed ramping to 0.
