Peter Nierengarten, Environmental Director for the City of Fayetteville, AR presented at our webinar yesterday morning. His presentation laid out the current status of municipal services during the COVID-19 crisis. Some key takeaways:

• The City of Fayetteville has seen a "massive increase" in demand for their municipally-run composting program, possibly due to more residents planting gardens at home.

• Some restaurants in Fayetteville are operating as grocery stores.

• There has been a reduction in the demand for city recycling and trash collection, largely due to the closing of restaurants, and therefore a matching reduction in municipal revenue for these services

• One micromobility provider (Spin) furloughed their scooter program in late March, but another (VeoRide) launched just days before. The number of rides per days is lower than expected, but the length of rides is longer.
