What is Google Ads?
Is an advertising platform owned by the company powering the famous Google search engine. It was formerly called Adwords for those who are a bit older like me.

I imagine everyone watching this has at least used one or more Google platforms. While a lot of their products are free, Google makes money by selling advertisers the ability to display ads on their platforms.

Advertisers can create ads with a variety of different objectives, campaign types and ad formats.
Google is well known for its high intent laser focused targeting options. The reason being is people searching on google are there for a very specific purpose.

Where Can Google Ads Appear?

your ads can appear in different places across the web depending on how you target your ads, to whom you choose to show them and the types of ads you create. I’m going to show you an example of the most common ones.

How Does Google Ads Work?

How does Google decide when an ad should appear.

Google ads is based on an auction.

Individual advertisers bid to have their ads shown. The way this works is incredibly complicated. But basically when you run ads on Google you place a bid to have your ads show. Google’s algorithm (which takes into account hundreds of factors) then decides which ad wins the auction.

But I don’t want to get overwhelmed. I’m going to let you know what to focus on to give you the best chance of winning the auction.

Google wants people to advertise on their platform - to do this they need people using it and advertisers wanting to place ads there.

For this to work they need people to have relevant and high quality ads. They can’t be too intrusive or not relevant to what users want to see. This also includes where the Otherwise people would stop using their search engine.
