How to create an animated blinds transition or screen cover in Camtasia, using nothing more than a few annotations and animations. In this exhaustive tutorial I show you how transitions are created or reusable assets in Camtasia, to create a cool effect you can reuse again and again, on your projects.

We start with a simple rectangular annotation, we place it on the canvas and then animate it as an animated slice that covers one 10th of the screen. Then we replicate that using a great trick that allows us to move animations somewhere else and still keep them relative to the canvas.

We then create the blinds animation, covering the entire screen and also create a reveal animation, making the blinds disappear again in a gradual fade/transition.

Finally, I show some usage examples on how you can use these animated blinds like a transition between two clips, how to split them, how to use them as a media matte (only in Camtasia 2021), how to create a reusable asset with quick properties, allowing you to change the colour of the animated bars in one click (Camtasia 2021 only).

I hope you enjoy this tutorial. I am planning much more tutorials like this one, exhaustive demonstrations, building things from scratch in Camtasia 2021 (and previous versions).
