Only History: Messerschmitt Me.410 Hornisse
The Me.210/410 family of aircraft were intended to become the Luftwaffe's mainstay aircraft at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s. They were intended to arm several dozen squadrons, each serving a variety of roles, from bombers to reconnaissance. The aircraft's versatility was ensured by field kits that could convert a bomber into an interceptor in a matter of hours. But the Me.210 was a complete failure, and the Me.410 simply arrived too late. Nevertheless, they played a role toward the end of the war, although they failed to make a significant contribution.
