Today, I have with me, Patricia Thaine. Patricia is the CEO and co-founder of Private AI, a company that she started with Pieter Luitjens, CTO of Private AI whose mission is to build the privacy layer for software.

Private AI has created a range of cutting-edge AI models that quickly and cost-effectively redact large datasets (text, image, video, audio) to provide privacy without the use of 3rd party cloud providers or new infrastructure. All it takes is 3 lines of code integrated into your existing workflows (on-premise, mobile, web, you name it).

Patricia has put her PhD on hold but was pursuing her PhD from the University of Toronto. She is a Vector Institute alumna doing research on privacy-preserving natural language processing, with a focus on applied cryptography. She also does research on computational methods for lost language decipherment. Patricia is a recipient of the NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship, the RBC Graduate Fellowship, the Beatrice “Trixie” Worsley Graduate Scholarship in Computer Science, and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. She has eight years of research and software development experience, including at the McGill Language Development Lab, the University of Toronto’s Computational Linguistics Lab, the University of Toronto’s Department of Linguistics, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
