We're continuing our video series on applying decorative plaster. In this episode, we'll be exploring the "Wet Silk" effect. We'll be using Qucon's Decor Silver Silk decorative plaster, which creates a silky effect. This effect is easy to create, especially if you use a special material. The first layer should be a primer/paint pre-tinted to match the material's color to even out the absorbency of the substrate. We'll use a velor roller. After the primer/paint has dried, sand the substrate with fine sandpaper (220 grit), removing any excess shagreen and any loose material. Apply the second layer of decorative plaster to a small area with a clean velor roller, then create a pattern with a trowel using a "figure eight" motion. The entire application and creation of the "Wet Silk" effect is clearly demonstrated in this video.
