This video explains the evidence in Chainsaw Man proving that Pochita’s arrival in Japan is directly connected to the Gun devil’s first appearance. Also, we'll break down the origin of why Makima began working for the Japanese government.

Video Info: Ok so In chainsaw man episode 5 we were introduced to the concept of the gun devil and today we’re about to solve the biggest mystery surrounding it.
What I think happened is that in 1984, Chainsaw Man was in hell, when he was confronted by the Control Devil, War Devil, Gun Devil and a few other devils that show up later in the series. The evidence for this is that in chapter 87, Makima stated that at some point in the past, Pochita had an epic battle against the four horsemen of the apocalypse and the “weapons devils”, which would’ve included the Gun. As a sidenote for those who don’t know, before Pochita met Denji he was the original hero known as Chainsaw Man, and he spent most of his days in hell, ripping other devils to pieces. He became so famous doing this that Makima described him as the one devil that other devils feared the most and this fear is what made him so powerful. For that reason he 100% would’ve been strong enough to fight on equal footing against the others, bringing us to the main theory. During this epic fight in hell we know that Chainsaw Man took a bite out of the War Devil significantly reducing her strength and he also ate a few of the weapons devils, erasing some of their names from existence. Following that he and the gun devil must’ve severely wounded each other, which is when the fight went in a completely different direction. With Pochita being too injured to continue, he decided to escape through one of the doors in hell, explaining why Makima said that he vanished during the height of the battle. The manga makes it very clear that many of these doors are connected to locations on earth, proven in chapter 84 when Chainsaw Man was trapped in the underworld but after he goes through one of them he ends up in Tokyo. Back in 1984 though, an injured Pochita went through a door that took him to another part of Japan where he meets Denji for the first time. Suffering from serious gunshot wounds his body then morphed into a tiny orange dog, which is something Makima described as his “near death form”. As we saw in the anime Denji then offers him human blood to regenerate himself and the two of them form a binding contract where they agree to help each other going forward.
At the same time down in hell, after Chainsaw Man vanished it was confirmed that the other devils tried to find him. My guess is that they each split up and went through different doors, with the bomb devil arriving in the soviet union, the arrow devil arriving in china, the control devil arriving in Tokyo for the first time and the gun arriving somewhere in Japan at 10am. The wounded gun devil then blitz’s through the country looking for Pochita and within a few minutes he goes through the America, Canada, India and all the other nations we mentioned earlier, before finally collapsing in the the Soviet Union from his injuries. This is why the mystery person who defeated the Gun Devil was nowhere to be seen when the Soviets arrived, cause Pochita had already done the damage back when they were in hell. When it comes to the terrorist attack in America, like all gun violence that happens every single day, this incident helped to increase the gun devils power, but if my theory is correct, then the gun devils appearance on this day was not actually caused by this.
