Espen lives with his father and brothers on a farm. One day, due to his wild imagination and clumsiness, he burns down the house. It also turns out that the girl he met in the forest the day before is a runaway princess, and a reward is offered for help finding her. Espen and his brothers embark on a dangerous adventure and set out to rescue the princess from the clutches of the Mountain King, a troll who, according to legend, awakens if the princess doesn't marry by her 18th birthday. However, the brothers aren't the only ones searching for the princess; she is also sought by a prince who wants to marry her for selfish reasons.
