After 12 years, the show "Dendy - New Reality" returns to your screens in a completely new guise, as we promised you!
Thanks to the tremendous advancement of digital technology and fans who have preserved TV recordings dating back to 1994, it was possible to re-digitize the tapes from which the recordings are now circulating online in less-than-perfect quality.
We all know that these broadcasts were not preserved at the television center, and the 2005 digitizations were done in rather crude conditions. But what are we striving for? That's right, quality! Maximum video and audio extraction from the tape.
This time, the digitization was performed using high-end equipment, and some restoration work was also carried out.
It's difficult to describe the resources and effort expended on this, but the main thing is that all the work was worth it.
Let's try to describe a few points:
1) All TV broadcasts were recorded in the worst "SECAM" color system. Thanks to better equipment, we were able to almost completely eliminate all the nasties and interference created by this color system (harsh flickering, confused colors, and a color mess on plain backgrounds) during digitization.
2) Over time, the tapes had lost their stable image quality, sank in places, and some sections were even unplayable. Through some combination of filters, we were able to very carefully blend the old and new digitizations so that everything looked coherent, and also managed to correct several initial frame gaps.
3) Thanks to a good digitizing equipment, we were able to extract maximum clarity from the tapes. No noise-reducing filters were used during further processing to avoid damaging the image.
4) In the old digitizations, the frame is severely cropped on all sides. The new version offers the most complete picture possible;
5) A deinterlacing filter was also applied to the old digital transfers, resulting in very strong compression. This time, no deinterlacing was applied. Everything was digitized as is. This provides much greater choice. All programs were filmed in 720x576 50i format. Therefore, for comfortable viewing, you can select your preferred deinterlacing method in the player and watch these programs in 50 frames! That is, just like we once saw them on TV. 6) Many recordings had a white balance issue, resulting in contrast that was too strong in some places, while in others, it was lacking. This issue was corrected by combining several filters. Everything was applied evenly throughout, without fanaticism, so as not to overdo it.
7) The sound no longer skips, squeaks, dips, or gurgles. Tape noise and interference were carefully removed. No harsh filters were used, which ruin everything at the root. Only volume balancing and minor cleaning of clicks, interference, and noise were performed.
8) It was important to proceed very carefully—improving one could worsen another. Maintaining a balance and preserving a pleasing image was crucial, which in turn allowed us to output it practically in HD format.
