Restoration of a Completely Old Sony Cassette & CD Player | Bringing Memories Back
Initial Assessment:
The Sony CD/Cassette boombox is completely covered in thick dirt, and corrosion.
Both the top CD tray and front cassette deck door are jammed tight.
Control buttons, knobs, and the antenna are severely oxidized.
Disassembly: Carefully unscrew the outer shell and separate the electronics, speakers, cassette deck, and CD mechanism.
Cleaning & Rust Removal: Soak metal parts and outer casings in rust-remover solutions; scrub away heavy grime and oxidation using wire brushes.
Replace bloated capacitors, corroded wiring, and worn-out drive belts.
Lubricate all gears, motors, and moving mechanical parts.
Reassembly & Testing: Put the unit back together and test all core functions (CD playback, cassette tape deck, AM/FM radio tuner, and speaker output).
Final Result:
The boombox is transformed from a rusted piece of scrap into a fully functional, pristine vintage audio player.
