Ridley Scotts Alien (1979) and John Carpenters THE THING (1982) are regarded as some of the best cosmic-horror out there, the genre which was created by the works of H.P Lovecraft. Film adaptations of Lovecraft's work are severely lacking, but how well do these films hold up as representatives?
In this video I gush over the art of horror as we discuss what all three "things" have in common, where they differ, and draw a final conclusion.

Originally this video was twice as long and we had over two hours of raw footage - it was a pain cutting so much of it out. Because of this, depending on how well this does, I may make a follow-up argument with the left over footage. Let me know if you guys would be interested in something like that!
