This geometry is known as a 8:2 octagram that is represented in traditional 2D geometry as two squares overlapping out of phase with each other. When spun on its axis, it creates an optical effect on the interior of the coil that appears to be a vorticular geometry with shadow like characteristics.

If it was an optical illusion, as it is a perfectly symmetrical coil, the imagery would be perfectly reflective around the rotational plane in the center. Instead, there is a distinctive asymmetry in the shadow projection (ie light vacuum).

When spun, an electrical conductor is being putting in motion acting as a magnetic diode with the earth's magnetic field, coupling to create electromagnetic waves, which are being reflected within the interior space with a fractal structure. This creates a localized vorticular/toroidal electromagnetic standing wave within this modular cavity (ie the room is changing/rotating). The light is being circulated in parallel spatial resonance, so that little to no light is escaping the system, with extreme compression around a vorticular vacuum, such as seen with hurricanes. This is akin to a black hole phenomena.

The coils were originally designed in 2010 by Auriel Aeon, involving many geometries such as the pentagram, and subsequently thereafter called Star Coils. The current renditions have been designed in Solidworks, 3d printed in wax, then with lost wax casting, cast into silver, copper, gold, ect... This version being shown was directly 3d printed into a stainless steel/bronze alloy, then electroplated in pure silver.
