Here in this video, we have described how to add items to action bar in android in android studio. Following are the steps you can do:

1- First create a custom action bar.

2- Now to add items to you custom action bar you have to code in your custom action bar xml file.

3- Now you add Edittext and button in xml file.

4- Put EditText in actionbar and button in actionbar.

5- Put some lines of code in your Mainactivity.java file.

6- Now you will get how to add Edittext in actionbar and how to add button in actionbar.
