Today I will show you how to use Photoshop to mirror parts of an image. As always, I will use one of my images which I process from start to finish and I am going to show you even more easy to use techniques.
I start out using the spot healing brush tool (1:00 min) to remove some of the people in my image. This tool works best if the background is quite uniform, so give it a try when you have the chance!
The next step was to mirror the image (1:50 min). I selected the Marquee tool to draw a rectangular selection around half the image. Then I pressed CMD+J on my keyboard to bring that selection onto a new layer. CMD+T can then be used to transform the image - so changing the shape or orientation. I used it to just flip it over, and the mirroring was done.
Cropping is easy in Photoshop, just hit c on your keyboard and bring in the edges you want to remove (3:50 min).
I used a mix of contrast and colour adjustments, which can be added by clicking on the symbols on the right in Photoshop (see after 4:00 min).
The techniques shown here are simple to use and you can use them right away to enhance your images! Here is a list of keyboard shortcuts I have used - they make you so much faster!
CMD+J to duplicate a layer or selection
b to select the brush tool
c to select the crop tool
CMD+alt+shift+e to perform a stamp visible (all that is visible onto a new layer)
x to change between black and white when having the brush selected
CMD+T to transform a layer or text (anything, really)
