Mike Austin looks at four recent sales from Hemmings Auctions. Are these cars taking off in the market, or where these just one-time big results?

First up, our top sale from January, a 1967 Ford Mustang GT500 Super Snake Prototype Tribute. This car started life as a 289 V-8 but underwent a four-year restoration to transform it into a copy of the 427-powered one-of-one original. See more here: https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1967...

Then a 1978 Mercedes-Benz 240D that went for double our reserve price. That's because it's super clean with a full record of service history. More photos and a video in the auction listing: https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1978...

This 2008 Jaguar XKR went for $11,000 more than our reserve price, and it's an indication that second-generation XKR prices are headed up. Check out the final price: https://www.hemmings.com/auction/2008...

And finally, a 1933 Ford DeLuxe Cabriolet, hot-rodded in 1950s style with a Mercury Flathead V-8. It's so pretty that it's easy to see why bidding went into a 3-way overtime battle, jumping up more than a third in price. Be sure to look at the engine photo: https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1933...
