This is the Dojo of Sensei Morio Higaonna, 10th Dan Goju Ryu Karate master. Part of the warm-up routine is hand conditioning to enable vice-like grips and toughen fingers for spear strikes to strategic points of the opponent.
It’s not unusual at the Higaonna Dojo for this tough conditioning routine to last more than one hour, followed by three hours of Karate training.
