Microsoft, GitHub and OpenAI are being sued in a Class Action Lawsuit for potential copyright issues relating to GitHub Copilot which is a service offered by GitHub to help developers streamline their workflows.
This has wide spread implications in various use cases of artificial intelligence to generate Art, Videos, Photos, Written Content, Music and of course code.
Part of the concern is the fact that code generated using GitHub Copilot often uses code from Open Source Projects that often have licenses that require attribution.
That attribution is not provided by Copilot, therefore, if you use the code generated from the service, you might have copyright issues.

The way these AI tools have been trained is by vast amount of freely accessible content online.
