The closing ceremonies took place at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. 7/4/86 The closing ceremonies featured a tribute to sports and pop culture, with the following performers and speakers (in order): Fabian Forte, Frankie Avalon, Buddy DeFranco, Charlton Heston, Waylon Jennings, Gene Kelly, Patti LaBelle, Gerry Mulligan, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, The Pointer Sisters, Manhattan Transfer, The Golden Boys of Bandstand, Shirley MacLaine, and Liza Minnelli. Your ABC host Peter Jennings along with celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty. This was on one of my DVDs. Was originally on VHS. Includes the 50's, the 60's, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Hollywood, Gospel and more. A little bit of everything
Had the entire special. Decided to abbreviate it to save time and space. Is still an enjoyable, amazing event. Kenny Rogers, The Staples Singers and Billy Preston was my favorite. I did donate to the repairs to the Statue and had a Liberty belt buckle for years. Even with all our troubles, am still proud to be an American. An thank God for our Democracy and Freedom. Never take it for Granted!
