DEBRIS Season 2 Canceled by NBC, Confirms Creator and Fringe Showrunner Joel Wyman
Hey, guys! Just a few days after the debut 13-episode season wrapped up on television, NBC announced the cancelation of Debris after just one season. There’ll be no Season 2 for Debris, unfortunately. The sci-fi series was created for NBC by Fringe showrunner Joel Wyman. Many viewers say that Debris reminds them of Fringe, but the comparison is not in Debris favor. “The show is flat. Fringe wannabe. Debris is boring.” These are just a few negative reviews from IMDb users, where Season 1 of Debris has an overall score of 6.6 out of 10. At the same time, the first season of Debris has solid approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes: unanimous 72% from both the viewers and critics. But that’s not the audience feedback that makes or breaks a show. Networks care only about viewership numbers, and that’s where Debris disappointed. Having started with 4.4 million viewers, by the end of the first season, the show has averaged just 2.8 million viewers per episode, ranking just at number 10 of all 14 scripted drama series currently running on NBC. Season 2 of Debris COULD potentially be more exciting, as the finale introduced Otto, the INFLUX leader, played by Fringe fan-favorite John Noble.
