0:00 - A one-way ALLIGATOR alarm system was installed on the client's Lanos. We'll remove it, and then install a new Sheriff ZX-1090 PRO alarm system with remote start. Therefore, in addition to the alarm system, we'll be installing the remote start circuits.
0:51 - Sheriff ZX-1090 PRO car alarm system package: instructions and warranty card, plate and switch, cable ties, hood switch, Valet button, temperature sensor, alarm connection wires, pager wire, shock sensor, remote start connection wires, immobilizer relay, 2 key fobs, the unit itself, key fob case, battery, and window stickers, but I don't recommend applying them. There's no siren included, so you'll have to buy one separately.
2:37 - I disassembled the car and got to the alarm system. It was installed haphazardly. But it had one advantage: a power-closer. We'll remove the old alarm system. Then we'll install a new one with remote start and connect the power-closer.
6:33 - After we've finished removing the old alarm, we can begin installing the new one. The wires on the Sheriff ZX-1090 PRO aren't very long, so we need to decide on a location for the unit.
7:52 - I decided to install the alarm in the same location, but I'll secure the unit to the air duct with double-sided tape and zip tie it. We'll wrap the wires with electrical tape to keep everything neat.

8:41 - We install the module that transmits the signal to the key fob. We mount it on the windshield, and run the wire along the factory pillar.

9:09 - We prepare the wires for installing the unit. I routed them in the correct directions and secured them with electrical tape. My thick harness goes to the remote starter. Along with it are wires to the door switch, trunk switch, and channel 3. The next branches are for the shock sensor, valet button, parking lights, ground, and engine immobilizer. The next wiring harness goes under the hood: a branch for the brake pedal, temperature sensor, siren, key switch, and ground. I first cut the jumper on the central unit for programming the gearbox. I also removed the excess wires from the large connector.

12:27 - Installing the central alarm unit in the car.

13:04 - I routed the key switch, siren, and engine temperature sensor wires under the hood of our Lanos. I taped the sensor to the water jacket pipe. I installed the key switch above the headlight. The siren was installed under the headlight. These are all the connections under the hood. Next, we move on to the car's interior.

13:41 - I've already connected the ground wire to the car body, to the terminal block. I connected the turn signal control to the hazard warning lights. The next three wires: the door switch, handbrake, and tachometer signal - I will connect to the instrument cluster connector. We're also addressing a small issue with the handbrake wire, in case the instrument cluster doesn't work.
4:20 PM - Completed all connections on the Lanos. All that remains is to configure the shock sensor and program the alarm and remote start.
7:25 PM - After the Sheriff ZX-1090 PRO car alarm is installed and configured, we can begin testing. I'll demonstrate all the features of this alarm system in a video especially for you.

This concludes the DIY car alarm installation. The Daewoo Lanos is quite easy to install with an alarm and remote start, so I'm confident you'll succeed! If you have any questions or comments, be sure to ask them below.
