Unlocking the Depths: Mesmerizing
A more complex piece this time, using many voices which I fade between during the performance. I ran out of sequencer lanes so I had to get inventive for percussion, ending up using clock dividers and logic formed by an Attenuverter to trigger Pico Drums. The Attenuverter allows me to change the logic so I can Jam on the percussion.
I created a number of sequencer patterns in advance, and selected from these during the performance. Unusually for me, the bass doesn't follow the chord progression (G A Bm D) but instead is repetitive for hypnotic effect..
Recorded live, directly to a stereo master, with no edits or overdubs apart from some limiting in post. (Can’t “fix it in the mix”!).

Arp 1 (pink, lane A)
Surface whose level is controlled from Shades 2.
Arp 2 (purple, lane B)
Rings in modal resonator mode, whose level is controlled from Shades 3.
Melody (grey, lane C)
Plaits in wavetable mode via Mimeophon. Envelope from Quadra into the Plaits internal VCA. The CV of this is attenuated by 2HP VCA from Tetrapad 1 for level control. Harmonics and Morph modulated by 0chd. Envelope modulates Timbre. Mimeophon 'u' modulated by three outputs from 0chd, summed by a flying passive mixer.

Bass (white, lane D)
Tides in high frequency Mult/Div mode. F/2 output modulates Smoothness, F/4 output modulates Slope. F/1 output is fed to Ripples Mk2 overdrive input.
Envelope provided by Z4000 ADSR and Quad VCA. The envelope also modulates Ripples frequency. Level control of Ripples from Tetrapad 3.
Resonant Pad (blue, lane E)
Chainsaw via both sides of Qpas in series, whose Radiate controls are differentially modulated by the envelope, which is provided by Quadra/Quad VCA.
Strings (red, lane F)
Disting EX in multisample mode using Lo Strings Long samples. Passed via Shades 1 for level control.
Vocal Samples (yellow, lane G)
Arbhar playing samples of my grandson singing.
Percussion (black)
Two Pico Drums loaded with DJ Raitis Vinyl Cuts and Default samples. Triggers are provided by Horologic Solum and 2MS RCD, various outputs from which are combined by ATNV. Levels controlled by Tetrapad 2 and 4 using 2HP VCAs.
Sequenced by Eloquencer in D Major. Lane H provides the chord progression by offsetting lanes A,B,F,G.
Swell reverb effect from Strymon BigSky added via the mixing desk Aux.
Cases: Tiptop Mantis and Eowave.
Video shot on a Panasonic DC-GX800 with 12-32mm Lumix lens.
Audio captured live via Yamaha MG12XU USB into Audacity as a Stereo master (no overdubbing, post mixing or processing apart from some limiting). Monitored on Yamaha HS8's.
