NIOBE
Niobe was a woman in Greece antiquity. Niobe had seven children, boys and girls, who were called the Niobids. Niobe was very proud of her children while the goddess Leto only had two (Apollo and Artemis). Apollo and Artemis killed Niobe's children to avenge the insult made to their mother. Niobe under shock became a rock and her tears a fountain. The renowned painter Balthus ordered this group sculptures (copies) in 1976 to give a good grasp of the villa medici gardens in late 16th century.
