If your PC feels like it’s thinking way too hard about files you barely search for, Windows Search indexing is probably burning cycles in the background. Turning it off can noticeably reduce disk activity and smooth things out, especially on older drives or budget systems. This quick Windows 11 guide shows how to disable search indexing so your computer focuses on what you’re actually doing, not obsessively cataloging everything you own.

Hey everybody, today we are going to learn how to disable Windows Search indexing in Windows 11 to speed up your PC.
Press Windows plus R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
Scroll down and find Windows Search.
Right-click Windows Search and select Properties.
Set Startup type to Disabled.
Click Stop to end the service immediately.
Click Apply, then OK.
Your system will no longer index files, reducing background activity and improving performance.
Less grinding. More speed.
I hope this helps you on your current and future projects. Thank You For Watching!
