Zoom Audio Settings - Computers (updated 2024)
Trala uses Zoom for private lessons. Some Zoom functions can help a virtual lesson be more effective and smooth.
Here's what you need to do on windows or mac computers so your teacher can hear your violin sound when you play. If you can, use headphones when taking your violin lesson!
1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
2. Click your profile picture on the top right corner, then click Settings. Choose Audio from the left. If you are in a meeting, click the up arrow next to the Microphone Icon in the bottom left of the screen and select "Audio Settings..."
3. Here, you can change the speaker and microphone, especially if you use Bluetooth headphones or an external microphone.
Remove the checkmark next to "Automatically adjust the microphone volume."
4. Under Audio Profile, select "Original Sound for Musicians' and turn on "High Fidelity Music Mode" and "Echo Cancellation"
5. For Windows Users only - click "Advanced" and turn "Signal Processing by Windows device drivers" to OFF - Windows RAW.
6. After these adjustments, when you join the meeting, there is a new button on the top left-hand corner that says "Original Sound for Musicians: OFF." Turn this ON to transfer original sound to your teacher.
If you're on Windows and still are not getting a good sound to your teacher, ask your teacher for help.
It would be a good idea to check these settings before each lesson to have a good sound quality and save your lesson time.
