Hey guys, welcome back to NGB 2.0 and in this video I want to show you how to change eye color in GIMP. Now to demonstrate this I've already imported this demo image in the GIMP editor and the first thing that you need to do is you need to create a duplicate of this Image layer. So select this Image layer and now click on this option which says 'Create a duplicate of the layer and add it to the image'.

Next you need to select the Image layer which is present right at the bottom and now you need to go to the 'Colors' menu and now you need to select this option that is 'Hue-Saturation'. Next look inside the 'Hue-Saturation' dialog box and right here you're going to find this option called 'Saturation' where currently the value is 0. So decrease the value inside the 'Saturation' option from 0 to -100 and now click on the 'OK' button.

Next you need to select the Image layer which is present right at the top and now you need to right click on it and now you need to select this option that is 'Add Layer Mask'. Next look inside the 'Add Layer Mask' dialog box and right here you need to select this option that is 'White(full opacity)' and now click on the 'Add' button. Next you need to select the 'Paintbrush Tool' and you need to select this particular brush that is 'Hardness 025'.

Let the 'Size' of the brush be 9 and I would like the 'Foreground Color' to be set to black. So in my case black is already selected in my 'Foreground Color'. So that's fine.

I'm not going to change it and now let's zoom in like this and what we are going to do is we will paint those areas inside the eye where we want the color to change. So let me paint those areas inside the eye where I want the color to change. So this may take some time but that's alright.

Once you have painted those areas inside the eye where you want the color to change what you need to do next is you need to select the Image layer which is present right at the bottom and now you need to go to the 'Colors' menu and now you need to select this option that is 'Colorize'. Next look inside the 'Colorize' dialog box and right here you're going to find three options 'Hue', 'Saturation' and 'Lightness'. So moving the 'Hue bar will let you change the color, moving the 'Saturation' bar will allow you to control the intensity of the color and moving the 'Lightness' bar will allow you to control the lightness.

So let me show you. So first let me move the 'Hue' bar and as you can see as I'm moving the 'Hue' bar I'm able to change the color of the eye. Alright let me select this particular color right here.

Now let me move the 'Saturation' bar. So moving the 'Saturation' bar will let you control the intensity of the color. So I'm happy with this particular result and moving the 'Lightness' bar will allow you to control the lightness.

So this looks good to me. Once you're satisfied with the output you need to simply click on the 'OK' button and that's it. This is how you can change eye color in GIMP.

One final thing that you can do is you can right click on the Image layer which is present right at the top and now you can select this option that is 'New from Visible' and that's it. So this is how you can change eye color in GIMP. Do let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
