Retired Hens Aren't Done Laying.
We happened to stumble across a post in our local chicken swap page talking about "the chicken man" making his rounds again. Turns out it was an opportunity to purchase "retired" laying hens from the factory. These Hens still have a lot of life in them and we hope to give them a much better home for the rest of their days. Hen houses can be so detrimental to a hens health which is why they are thrown out at only 14 months old. The terrible living conditions begin to effect their laying rates and the hen houses kick them to the curb. That will not be how they live in our hands.
