It's a largest lake on the British according to its volume and the second largest by area. Due to its size and depth it actually contains more water then all the lakes of England and Wales put together.
Fort Augustus is a village on the South - West end of Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands.
Originally it was called Kiliwhimin but was renamed to Fort Augustus after the failed Jacobite Rising of 1715.
it has only about 600 registered inhabitants and it's main trade is tourism.
The waterfall pictured in some scenes is the Moriston Fall on River Moriston. The Invermoriston bridge was built by a famous architect Thomas Telford in 1813.
