Man, oh man! I had a serious challenge with this one. While working on some game projects, I ran into nightmare after nightmare trying to export to Android using GameMaker Studio. Although the documentation was decent, I initially followed advice from another video that recommended downloading a JDK version from Java’s website, and everything went downhill from there. In this video, I share how to properly set up GameMaker Studio to export to Android, so you can avoid the headaches I went through.

Common Errors & Solutions:

Error: Under Preferences, Platform Settings, ANDROID is missing.
Solution: If you have the right license, log out and log back in from the GameMaker file menu. This will sync the functionality based on your subscription level.

Error: com.android.build.gradle.tasks.PackageAndroidArtifact$IncrementalSplitterRunnable, com.android.ide.common.signing.KeytoolException: Failed to read key from store. Get Key failed: Given final block not properly padded.

Solution: Ensure that the Common Name password and the Alias password match.

Error: Could not compile build file C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\GameMakerStudio2\Cache\GMS2CACHE...\build.gradle. Unsupported class file major version 62.

Solution: Use the JDK version installed within the Android Studio folder.

Watch this video to avoid these common pitfalls and get your GameMaker Studio project exporting to Android smoothly!
