The first episode begins with a dramatic flash-forward, showing a teenage Boruto Uzumaki facing Kawaki in the ruins of the Hidden Leaf Village. Kawaki declares that "the age of shinobi is over," setting up a mysterious conflict that will shape the future.
The story then returns to the present, where Boruto, the energetic son of the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, is preparing to enter the Ninja Academy. While exploring the village, Boruto rescues a timid boy named Denki Kaminarimon from a group of bullies.
