Turn Off PS4 Controller Connected to Phone, PC, TV (100% Works!)
To turn off a PS4 DualShock 4 controller connected to a phone, PC, or TV (including Amazon Fire TV/Firestick), you need to disconnect it from the Bluetooth or wired connection and power it down. Below are the steps for each device type, ensuring the controller is fully turned off to save battery. These methods work for all PS4 controller versions (CUH-ZCT1 and CUH-ZCT2).
Turn Off PS4 Controller Connected to a Phone
Disconnect via Phone Settings:
Android:
Open Settings - Bluetooth.
Find “Wireless Controller” or “DualShock 4” in the list of paired devices.
Tap the gear icon or three dots next to it, then select Unpair or Disconnect.
iOS:
Go to Settings - Bluetooth.
Locate “DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller” under My Devices.
Tap the “i” icon, then select Disconnect or Forget This Device.
Power Off the Controller:
Press and hold the PS button (center of the controller) for 10–15 seconds until the light bar turns off completely.
Alternatively, if the controller doesn’t turn off, press the Reset button:
Find the small pinhole on the back of the controller (near the L2 button).
Use a paperclip or pin to press and hold the Reset button for 3–5 seconds.
The controller will power off and reset its connections.
