When we transmit our language to our children we normally use informal language in casual settings during our daily interactions. Especially when we are the only ones of one of the few who provide input in the target language, it is not that natural for us to introduce the formal language.
In this video we share some insights and tips on how to introduce formal language to our preschool and school aged children, and some ways to foster formal registers for our teens.
The older our children get, the more society expects them to function in a variety of settings, with different people.
