This is the second episode in a development series I will be doing on a game that I am making called Astraeus. This will be a mix of a Rogue-Like game and a Real Time Strategy game that takes place in space.
You will build a space station that you have to manage while random events and encounters take place.
In this video I show the grid building system that is in place now as well as being able to destroy rooms on the grid. There is a navigation mesh created at runtime and updates each time you make changes to the space station by adding or removing rooms.
Procedural doors are adding when you connect two rooms together and will be removed when one of the rooms is destroyed. Units can now move between rooms and will wait for doors to open before proceeding.
I have spent a lot of time on the basic visuals as well as the user interface.
Settings will now update real time as they are adjusted on the menu and will save on close so that they load back in on the next play.
I hope you are enjoying the series.
