Turn off Open in Read Mode
Turn off the MS Word setting that makes Outlook email attachments and other read only documents automatically open in read mode. Have them open in PrintLayout view instead so you can edit them right away.

1. File
2. Options
3. General
4. Startup Options
5. Clear the "Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view" check box
