Great question Carolyn! This is called a "Hover Effect" and it does take a little bit of work to accomplish.
Community Manager Jesse walks you through one way to add image captions that show up when your user hovers over the image, using a custom CSS class and some CSS tricks to create a nice-looking caption that will appear when you hover over the image with your mouse.
