Woke Snow White is Not Progressive, It's Backward
A Snow White who rejects love in order to pursue her dream of being a leader is not progressive. It’s actually backward.
Hello Spiritual Being Having a Human Experience! I’m Edward. I believe in us, despite the fact that we humans are currently experiencing some severe growing pains on our journey to enlightenment. Let’s talk about the woke era, why it’s nearing its end and how this relates to Snow White 2024. At the end of this video, I’ll tell you how I think the story should have been updated.
The Snow White 2024 controversy started when it was announced that a Latina actress would play the title role. Personally, I thought it was good casting, she looked the part, (no one’s skin is truly white as snow) , she could sing and she seemed to have the air of kindness and compassion that Snow White is all about. That was until this … [ Being strong and standing up for yourself is great, but being blind to the advantages you have over the majority of your peers, comes across as kind of self-centered and tone deaf.] She isn’t scoring many points for relatability. Who remembers when Gal Gadot was making the rounds, doing the publicity for the first Wonder Woman movie? She was so well spoken, intelligent, witty, charming … I remember thinking “I didn’t get it at first, but I can now see how she was cast as Wonder Woman. It’s the opposite with Rachel Zegler as Snow White, I’m sorry to say. Things truly went off the rails when this leaked photo of the Seven “Bandits” or “Magical creatures” hit the internet. It is clear that successful actor, Peter Dinklage’s, condemnation of “dwarfs living together in a cave” was taken to heart and the dwarfs were no longer dwarfs. (First of all, in the original film they didn’t live in a cave, they lived in a house.) But there a deeper reasons why this actor’s take on the story is faulty, and we will talk about later in this presentation.Leaks about the story updates Disney has made from the 1937 to the 2024 version of Snow White have sparked a lively debate. Most of the feedback has been negative, and Disney is reportedly reworking the film, trailers and marketing to minimize the financial damage. This suggests that Disney doesn’t truly believe in the film they made or the central message of female empowerment they built it around. This reminds me of the Bud Light debacle, where the company sponsored a trans influencer, and then threw her under the bus as soon as they got cancelled by their core customers. This ended up alienating both the conservatives and the liberals, and caused them to lose their status as the number one selling beer in America. Could the same happen to Disney if they bow down to the critics? Could they lose their woke and their anti-woke customers? Is Walt Disney Pictures rather than the Evil Queen the real villain of this story?
