In this video, we'll discuss cutting tools, specifically metal cutting tools used on a lathe. This is, as usual, metalworking. All turning tools can be divided into several categories. These include turning tools for metal, as well as tools for machining other metals and alloys. But today we're covering the topic of metal turning, so we won't digress. Every self-respecting turner has tools for a lathe, usually a set of specific tools. After all, turning tools, for example, are of no use to a milling machine operator. A good turner doesn't have to worry about which cutting tool to use to achieve a particular surface finish. In this video, we'll discuss turning cutters, as they are the most popular cutting tool for turning machines. A metal countersink bit is also a common tool in a lathe's drawer. Sometimes, a metal reamer can be found, which is essential for achieving high-quality surfaces. If you're working on threads, you can use a metal tap, although there are various types of turning tools that can also be useful for thread cutting. A turning tool is a fairly versatile tool, as it's the foundation of any turning operation. This is what mechanical engineering and turning are all about. Therefore, whenever we hear the term "metalworking," we're bound to encounter a metal-cutting tool.
