The Sun: The center of our solar system, a massive star that provides light and heat to the planets and other objects. It contains more than 99% of the total mass of the solar system.
The Planets: There are eight recognized planets, which are divided into two categories:
Terrestrial Planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. These are rocky planets with solid surfaces.
Gas Giants and Ice Giants: Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants, while Uranus and Neptune are ice giants. They have thick atmospheres and are much larger than terrestrial planets.
Dwarf Planets: These are smaller celestial bodies that orbit the Sun but do not meet all the criteria to be classified as full-fledged planets. Notable dwarf planets include Pluto, Eris, Haumea, Makemake, and Ceres.
Moons: Many planets and dwarf planets have natural satellites or moons. For example, Earth has one moon, while Jupiter has more than 90 known moons.
Asteroids: These are small rocky bodies mostly found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. They vary in size from tiny pebbles to objects that are hundreds of kilometers across.
Comets: Comets are icy bodies that release gas and dust, forming a glowing coma and sometimes a tail when they come close to the Sun. They originate from the outer regions of the solar system, like the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud.
The Kuiper Belt: This is a region beyond Neptune filled with small icy bodies, including many dwarf planets. It is home to many short-period comets.
The Oort Cloud: A distant, spherical shell surrounding the solar system, composed of icy bodies. It is believed to be the source of long-period comets that come from far beyond the Kuiper Belt.
