From Leipzig to Tallinn – entirely by rail! Is that even possible? We put it to the ultimate test and are taking you along on one of our most exciting train journeys across the Baltics.
On our route (Leipzig – Berlin – Warsaw – Mockava – Vilnius – Riga – Valga – Tallinn), we'll show you how travel in the Baltics currently works. Since the Baltic states' rail network isn't yet fully connected to the European standard-gauge network (keyword: We're waiting for the major Rail Baltica project!), we have to change trains! We'll be switching trains in Mockava and Valga and taking you along for the ride every step of the way.
A huge thank you to the fantastic service staff along the route! We traveled on:
🚆 @deutschebahn ICE (Leipzig - Berlin)
🚆 @IntercitySA PKP Intercity (Berlin – Warsaw - Mockava)
🚆 @ltglink4321 LTG Link (Mockava – Vilnius – Valga)
🚆 @ElronEesti Elron (Valga – Tallinn)
Conclusion: It takes some time and patience with the transfers, but the stunning scenery and the experience make it all worthwhile. One tip: Pack snacks for the Valga – Tallinn leg, as there was unfortunately no food service on board! 😉
