The clampless rub joint, as taught by Chicago School of Violin Making.
... aka jointer porn.
1. Get yourself a full-length full-width feathery shaving, check for square and slight hollow.
2. Hide glue all over the joint
3. Rub in vise, smaller and faster motions until it "grabs"
4. Macho arm clamp
5. Paint 2 stripes of water around the joint on both sides, warm the water stripes (not the joint) over alcohol lamp
6. Goodnight, plate! Leave it vertical and undisturbed for 8+ hours.
