The Twisted Story of Davontae Sanford
14-year-old Davontae Sanford confessed to gunning down three men and one woman during a bungled robbery. His typed confession is read to him by Sergeant Michael Russell, who has just spent hours interrogating the teen. The details of Davontae’s admission are chilling and detailed. There’s just one problem. Not a word of it is true. The conviction of Davontae Sanford for a crime the media dubbed the Runyon Street Slayings is a bewildering tale of lies, coincidences, police corruption and the prosecutorial misconduct that ultimately led to one of most compelling miscarriages of justice in criminal history.
