One of the standard criticisms of economic theory is that it studies only rational Homo Economicus, who maximize utility, profit, and other payoff functions. This is not true. Beginning with Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman, economists have attempted to understand how people behave in reality and how this can be taken into account when making decisions. Information imperfections and asymmetries, bounded rationality, emotions, and social preferences are just a few of the reasons why people violate the basic assumptions of economics. But irrationality is often systematic and predictable, and it is both possible and necessary to study the real behavior of agents and test the hypotheses of economic theory. The course "Behavioral Economics in Stories" is devoted to exploring this.

For those new to economics, we recommend taking the courses "Supply and Demand Theory" (https://stepik.org/course/58626), "Theory of the Firm and Markets" (https://stepik.org/course/61599), and "Theory of Economic Mechanisms" (https://stepik.org/course/98679) for a better understanding. Alternatively, read the books "Microeconomics" (https://urait.ru/book/mikroekonomika-...) and "Entertaining Economics: Theory of Economic Mechanisms from A to Z" (https://ast.ru/book/zanimatelnaya-eko....
