Mozarts Birthday celebrations Salzburg
A nice bunch of girls were handing out post cards informing me of the forthcoming celebrations to mark Mozart week. It was only later that I realised that Today was the aniversary of Mozarts Birthday and here was I in Salzburg. The place of his birth.
There was some activity outside his Birth house where people were laying tables and setting up a kitchen and bar,I asked what it was all for. "We're serving food and drink from the time of Mozart" said the lady "And there's free entry to his house if you share a birthday with him"
"Today is my Birthday!" I said "Oh!" she said "Come inside"
As the evening wore on and more Mozart Punch was drunk we were joined by a number of bands who played some Austrian music,people danced,A choir of ladies sang and Japanise people took pictures with all kinds of photographic equipment......Lots of pictures!!!
Inside Mozarts house, an American woman guided the many people who were celebrating the same birthday as Mozart (there did seem to be a lot) around the life of the great composor. His many letters and bills and in a glass case, a ticket to one of his concerts. All very interesting.
The question is though, If W.A.Mozart was alive today to celebrate his birthday what do you think he would be doing?
