Lise Meitner's name probably doesn't ring a bell, but if you look at a periodic table, you'll see that element 109, "meitnerium," was named in her honor. According to many historians, this woman didn't win the Nobel Prize alongside other male scientists because of her "controversial" opinions and because she was a woman.
