When you have your hands full, it's a pain in the butt to try and wrestle with keys so you can unlock the front door. An intelligent lock provides added convenience and functionality while also helping to prevent you from getting locked out of your house. There are several different clever lock options to choose from these days. Luckily, the Lockly Secure Series makers recently added a Pro version to its lineup of smart locks. It offers more features than any other smart lock in the series. The Lockly Secure Pro comes in either a deadbolt or latch version. Each version has three different color choices: Satin nickel, Venetian bronze, or matte black. The Lockly Pro deadbolt has features like a deadbolt extender, so it will fit on door setups of various sizes. You can use the included adhesives or drill a hole through your door to secure the lock assembly. Drilling a hole isn't necessary (because you can use the adhesives instead). Still, it will provide added stability, and the kit comes with a measuring guide to make things easier. The Lockly Pro has a variety of other security features. The capacitive fingerprint reader helps prevent the use of lifted prints. At the same time, the Pin Genie keypad technology keeps people from seeing the keypad code.
Schlage Connect is the version to get if you have a smart home hub, such as Wink or SmartThings. Schlage Sense is the company's Wi-Fi and HomeKit-compatible smart deadbolt. This means that Siri can control Schlage Sense and Apple's Home app. This is a big deal because there are limited gadgets and smart locks that work with Apple devices due to their strict security. Unlike Schlage Sense which works with Siri, Connect is designed for control using Amazon Alexa. If you use Alexa to automate your home, this could be an excellent lock for you. HomeKit and Siri do not work with Schlage Connect. Schlage Connect is the choice for more intelligent home users since it has far more Amazon reviews than Schlage Sense. The Schlage Connect lock works with Alexa, SmartThings, and other hubs to automate with Z-Wave devices. This makes it an excellent choice for most smart homes. High-end smart locks can be pricey, but the stylish and affordable Wyze Lock Bolt might be all you need. This lock uses Bluetooth (instead of Wi-Fi) to connect to your phone. It supports several unlock methods: a fingerprint reader, a backlit keypad, and a mobile app. It offers an automatic lock feature, too. Still, the security device doesn't integrate with third-party platforms or work with voice controls. The exterior escutcheon has an attractive matte black finish and measures 4.5 by 3.0 by 0.8 inches (HWD). It contains a keypad with twelve round and rubberized backlit buttons (0 to 9, lock and unlock), a battery indicator, and a fingerprint scanner. Behind a rubber gasket on the bottom edge is a USB power port that you can use to operate the lock if the batteries fail.
