Seventy years ago, a monstrously brutal double murder occurred in Minsk.
On January 14, 1948, Sergei Kruglov, the USSR Minister of Internal Affairs, reported to Stalin: "On January 13, at 7:10 a.m., two male corpses were discovered in Minsk, lying face down. The murdered men were S.M. Mikhoels, artistic director of the State Jewish Theater and People's Artist of the USSR, and V.I. Golubov-Potapov, a member of the Moscow branch of the Union of Soviet Writers. Truck tracks, partially covered by snow, were found near the corpses."
